We are more than just a sending agency. Our heart is to equip you to be able to reach the lost wherever they are. We want to provide you with opportunities to serve. The reality of going overseas may not be possible for some of you in your current season of life.
With this in mind, we have created resources and contacts to help you multiply the Church in your daily life. Compelled by the vision of making disciples of all nations, we are working to equip believers to go and share this life-giving message with people all over the world, and that often starts in our own backyard.
We also want to connect you with the worldwide church, and for some, that means committing to one of our international trips and getting hands on experience in a cross cultural setting. Our heart is that your time overseas is just the beginning, and you continue to pour into those relationships for years to come.
We have a heart for you to MULTIPLY the church by connecting you with like-minded believers, preparing you to reach those far from God, and equipping you to live a missional life today.
Why Short-Term Missions
Short-Term Missions (STM) have become, in many ways, a stigma to Missions globally. Why then, do we still choose to mainly focus upon STM? The answer comes in our approach to short term missions, an approach that we believe is based in God’s word.
Southeastern Theological Seminary’s George Robinson says, “Paul, it seems, was a long-term missionary who, like Jesus, executed through short-term strategies. It is widely accepted that Paul seldom stayed longer than a few months or even weeks in a single location, with a few notable exceptions in Ephesus (possibly 2.5 years) and Corinth (possibly 1.5 years).” But even those two Long Term Trips were not long compared to today’s vision for Long Term Missions (LTM).
We here at Multiply Global would agree with this interpretation of Paul and Jesus’ missionary lives. They were “long term missionaries who many times used short-term strategies.”
But what do this look like? It is one thing to say that we believe in this approach to STM, but how do we put it to the road? We first, emphasise the Great Commision. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28) And then, we emphasize missional lives.
Every day we are presented with STM opportunities. Our life is full of them. Every person you meet creates an opportunity for the Gospel to be shared. We believe Christ himself had this mentality. This allowed him to be flexible and more importantly guided by his Father’s will.
This is why we do what we do. We believe that with the right heart attitude, STM create the foundation upon which all missions sit. Without a STM approach to everyday life, you can never be a LTM, because at the end of the day, that is what a LTM is: a follower of Christ willing to everyday embark upon the missions God set before him.
